Stop making your clients write your proposal for you.

Clients are coming to you because they lack time and expertise. Don’t give them more shit to do.

I have recently experienced this first hand and I can confirm it is the reason your clients will buy or not.


When a client comes to you with a problem they need solved, a budget, and a time frame that needs to be met. Ten emails back and forth and a whole lot of guessing is going to send you to their archive or leave you ghosted. Nobody is going to buy unless they know:

  • What they’re getting

  • When they’re getting it

  • How much it costs

You are the expert in the field, often clients don’t know what they need until you tell them and it is your job to do that.


What you should be doing:

Going back to the client with clear and intentional set of questions in order to gather all of the information you need. In one go. Do not wing this, this step is what is going to get you this client or not.

Compile everything into a very simple, to-the-point proposal that includes:

  • Scope of work

  • Deliverables

  • Investment

  • Time frames

  • Next steps

What not to include:

3 pages of About you & your business. People are busy, they want to know whether you can solve their problem on time, within budget and as seamlessly as possible.

People have a bank of daily calories and it is in our human biology that we use these as efficiently as possible. Your brain’s primary job is keeping you alive, so it doesn’t want to burn up too many calories. It wants to conserve them.

In other words, your clients do not want or need to know that your mums, cousins, friends, dog inspired you to start your business.
